BUILDING CONFIDENCE FOR ASPIRING COACHES
COACHING BACKGROUND
With nearly 30 years of teaching and coaching experience, I've had the privilege of sharing my knowledge with young educators and coaches. During my 17 years as a PE teacher, I played a key role in training postgraduate students at St Mary's College in Twickenham and Brunel University. Additionally, I guided and supported newly qualified teachers during their first year in the profession, offering advice to help them thrive.
As a tennis coach, I've continued this mentorship, working closely with less experienced coaches to develop their skills, enhance their coaching techniques, and navigate the challenges of the sport both on and off the court. I’m committed to sharing my personal experiences, providing emotional support, and helping young coaches set and achieve their goals.
LTA TENNIS LEADERS
The LTA Tennis Leaders program is a fantastic leadership course designed for 11-18 year olds, offering them the opportunity to develop essential skills that will serve them for life. Through this program, young people can take their first steps towards a career in tennis coaching or another sport by gaining hands-on experience in a variety of roles. These roles include: assisting with organizing a tennis tournament, supporting a coach during practice sessions, and volunteering at a local tennis club or school.

Andy and I worked together at the Grey Court school between 2008-20010. Andy was the head of the year group and I was a form teacher for his year team. Andy was the most supportive mentor to me during my first two years as a qualified teacher, we met on a weekly basis to discuss the children and the plans for supporting them pastorally and Andy was always very organised, proactive, supportive and kind. Andy always had enough time for everyone, staff and children alike despite having a huge workload, his door was always open and no problem was too big. Andy has a huge heart and compassion for people and was by far the best pastoral leader I have ever worked with. Andy has a knack for putting a person at ease and will definitely make a wonderful mentor. I would highly recommend him for this role.
